Although Darlene and Wilf started the process of bringing their vision to life about 5 years ago, it had its beginning well before that.
Many years ago, Darlene was given a plush animal that looked like a lamb by a very close friend of hers at a time in Darlene’s life when she needed a comforting and inspirational companion the most. She had just tragically lost her husband in a motor cycle accident.
As her world started collapsing around her, this plush lamb, whom she lovingly named ‘Gracie’ became her companion to help guide her through her emotional pain and economic struggles. Gracie was her inspirational coach constantly reminding her of all that she still had rather than what she had lost.
On the other hand, Wilf had taken courses in mediation and conflict resolution, peer counseling, The Pursuit of Excellence series and for many years studied Tai Chi with Master R. Chung of Vancouver.
In addition to being an avid golfer and hockey player and coupled with his interest in meditation and eastern and western philosophies, Wilf had become aware of the many benefits of conscious breathing and how powerful it can be in every day living.
When Darlene and Wilf first met, they had many discussions about life’s challenges and how important breathing is to improve one’s quality of life.
One day when a question came up as to how best to deal with a state of anger and frustration, they took a deep breath, pointed to Gracie and said, “why don’t we ask the dolly lammy”….and instantly both realized that this was a moment of genuine inspiration and discovery for them….how important and yet so simple is the power of having a visual aid to remind us to breathe in the moment of need.
They then set out to bring their creation to life and genuinely hope that something as simple and cute as their Dolly Lammy can be a symbol for personal happiness one breath at a time.
“It is our hope that every time you look at your Dolly Lammy, it will bring a smile to your face, warmth to your heart and you will recognize the true intent of your companion.”
